month 3
Adelaide has developed quite a little personality this past month reaching her most exciting milestone yet ~ laughing. Before now we had heard her little laugh here and there, but now she'll actually laugh at something we're doing - it is by far my favorite sound in the world. She still loves sucking on her fists and we can't keep them out of her mouth. She is cooing & jabbering away and tries to tell anyone who's attention she can capture a story. She welcomed her 12th week by sleeping 8 hours through the night and has treated us to 8-10 hrs every night since! I reluctantly moved her from the co-sleeper to her crib and to my dismay she adapted just fine. She generally goes to bed between 10p & 12a and will sleep until 7a or 8a, I'll nurse her and then she generally falls back asleep until 11a or so. She'll take a few catnaps throughout the day between her feedings & activity times, then she'll take an evening nap. We have been practicing sit ups with her and she is trying her hardest to develop her little abs - I fear the days of her laying peacefully on my lap for any amount of time are gone because now she tries to sit up whenever she can! She is nursing on average every 3 hours still (except overnight) and I cherish that time spent with her more than anything. Our first Thanksgiving and Christmas with her were absolutely wonderful - she was spoiled beyond belief by all her grandparents, aunts & uncles and she was so worn out after her 3rd day of festivies (Christmas Eve with Brad's family, Christmas Day with my family & the day after was my sister's baby shower) that she fell asleep at 6:30p and didn't wake up until 4:30a to eat! She continues to be the most chill baby ever and we feel quite blessed to get to share our lives with her! A few things we don't want to forget: I love her little forearms, they remind me of popeye's arms because they seem bigger than her upper arms. She has such a sweet disposition and I'll often find her staring at me trying to get my attention, then once I look at her I'm rewarded with the biggest smile. As mentioned previously, she takes quite a while to wake up...we'll hear her stirring in the morning and go in to find her fast asleep but stretching all her limbs up in the air then thump as her arms and legs hit the mattress...this of course has earned her the nickname thumper, my favorite yet.
